Our "one lucky mutt" is our 10-yr old border collie/black lab mix, Lucy.  We rescued Lucy at the ripe old age of 8 weeks from the old Animal Regulation Center on Gasconade.  She was the only one left after her Mother and siblings were adopted and was scheduled to be euthanized the next day.

At the age of 4 months, Lucy began to stumble sometimes, which transpired into full-blown seizures.  After the gamut of tests was run (CAT scan, MRI, numerous blood tests), it was determined that the cause of her seizures was probably vaccinosis.  In other words, she had been over-vaccinated when she was brought into the pound.

Lucy began having 1 to 4 seizures a day, some being much worse than others.  After being treated with conventional drugs such as Phenobarbitol and enough Potassium Bromide to dope a horse, Lucy was in a dazed stupor most of the day.  Her coat was dull and thinning, her muzzle was totally gray, her appetite was poor, and our little girl just didn't feel well.  After being told that Lucy would only live a few years, we began doing many hours of our own research, and made the decision to take a holistic approach to her treatment and her way of life.  This was the start of a 7-year journey of testing and learning about various natural treatments, such as acupuncture and herbs, and natural diets that you won't find at your major retailers.

Now, our little girl who was only supposed to live a few years just turned 10 and continues to be our inspiration.

Lucy is assisted as Chief Taster and Tester of all of our products by her 2 border collie brothers, Sam and Jake, and her arch-nemesis, Lilly the cat.
